Wagor International School - Elementary School (Xitun Campus) attaches great importance to life skills. To integrate with the Grade 5 reading story “ Forest on Fire”, the Student Affairs Department invited the Taichung City Government Fire Bureau, Shuinan team, to the school to introduce fire truck equipment and share their knowledge on May 6^th. This event included how to operate a fire extinguisher and an indoor fire hydrant. After recent major public fire casualties occurred in Taiwan, focusing on strengthening personal safety and protecting your family in the event of a fire has become a priority.

      葳格國際學校小學部西屯校區非常重視生活教育，108學年度結合外語課程，學務處與外語部共同合作「消防安全」防火宣導，特別於5月6日邀請臺中市政府消防局水湳分隊到校進行「消防車設備與消防常識介紹」、「滅火器操作」及「室內消防栓介紹操作」等分站循環宣導。

Fire Truck Equipment and Firefighting Knowledge消防車設備與消防常識介紹

      In addition to introducing fire truck, the use of firefighting equipment and fireproof clothing were also explained. This not only taught students about first safety tips, but also allowed students to actually experience wearing firefighting equipment and fireproof clothing.

        所以除了消防車介紹外，還有破壞型機具與防火衣的介紹，不僅說明火場與逃生知識，更讓學生實際體驗消防設備及防火衣的穿著。

Fire Extinguisher Operation滅火器操作

       Giving students the opportunity to witness the actual operation of a fire extinguisher showed students how to use a fire extinguisher quickly and precisely to extinguish a fire and minimize damage and loss in the event of a fire.

      實際操作滅火器也讓學童在真正遇到火警狀況時，能夠迅速並確實使用滅火器，以期將火源撲滅並將傷害與損失減到最低。

Indoor Fire Hydrant Operation室內消防栓介紹操作

      Indoor fire hydrants are well known, but few children have seen what they really look like. This event gave the children a glimpse of an actual indoor fire hydrant. It helped them to understand the indoor fire hydrant hose and how it works. They also witnessed the use of a fire hydrant in action.

      室內消防栓則是大家最常見的設備，但小朋友幾乎沒看過真實的樣子，藉由這次宣導讓小朋友一窺究竟，了解室內消防栓管線及操作方式，並進行消防栓噴水的實際操作體驗。

     This firefighting advocacy, which combined language learning and professional firefighters' explanations, also allowed children to experience the use of hydrants, extinguishers, fire protection clothing and other firefighting equipment. In the future, if similar incidents occur, the children of Wagor would be able to protect themselves in these dangerous situations.

      本次消防宣導，融入外語課程教學與專業消防員的講解，結合語言學習外，還讓小朋友可以近距離體驗消防栓、滅火器、防火衣與防火器具等救命武器。讓原本索然無味的防災知識充滿新鮮感與驚奇，結合認知、技能與情意，培養帶得走的能力，未來如果遇到類似的事件，葳格的孩子們才能保護自己遠離危險的處境。
