Disaster Drill - Earthquake Drill

Beep, beep, beep! The alarm sounds! Wagor kids follow instructions from their teachers to stay safe. They practice safety moves like “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” to stay safe during earthquakes. Because the teacher often reminds and shows them what to do, the kids are able to rapidly do what they're told. These regular drills keep things organized and enable everyone to react quickly when there's a real emergency.

Taiwan is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where small, perceptible earthquakes occur frequently each year. The Taiwanese people have become accustomed to these seismic activities, but it is crucial to know how to prepare for and mitigate the impact of a major earthquake. In response to this concern, Taiwan has designated September 21st as National Disaster Preparedness Day. On this day, all schools across the nation conduct a comprehensive disaster preparedness drill at 9:21 AM to enhance the earthquake awareness and preparedness of the population.

Under the guidance of teachers in their daily life and social studies classes, students not only learn about the potential harm caused by earthquakes but also receive instruction on self-protection measures during earthquakes. They are taught the three essential actions to take during an earthquake: "Drop, Cover, and Hold On." This knowledge enables them to protect themselves most effectively and minimize the risk of severe injury in the event of an earthquake.

Finally, Vice Principal Zhang Yinping of the Xitun campus of the elementary school reminds the children that it is crucial to remain calm
